15 Things You Didn’t Know about Michael Jackson
July 7, 2010
The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, held two very different personas in the eyes of two generations. To the current generation, he’s just a former star who’d become exceedingly eccentric, a recluse who named his children nonsensically, and been formally accused of child molestation. But to the previous generation, he was an unparalled mega superstar, the likes of which may never be duplicated again, who’d gone through personal tragedies no person should endure which led to his aberrant behavior later in life. But whoever he was in the eyes of the beholder, this much is true of the man: he was a shrewd businessman. Michael Jackson chose business over his friend, Sir Paul McCartney, who told him how valuable the publishing rights of the Beatles’ back catalog of songs would be, and outbid the former Beatle. He also actually owned the patents to the devices put into the shoes of his and his backdancers that allowed them to perform their seemingly gravity defying dance moves. Yes, Michael Jackson was eccentric in his later years leading up to his death, but the MBA candidate should know to look past the rumors, and innuendos, and focus more on the manner in which Jack-O conducted business, and find that he’s a fine model to emulate, though a bit on the cutthroate side.
