Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts is accepting applications for a new online MBA programs that will begin in January. Students can choose from a general online MBA or specializations in health informatics and sports management. The degrees can be completed entirely online and do not require students to attend campus.
Anna Maria, a not-for-profit Catholic liberal arts institution, is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), one of six regional accreditation agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics estimates that the healthcare industry will grow 33% between 2010 and 2020. Responding to this growth, Anna Maria is one of only three schools in the country offering an online MBA concentration in health informatics, an emerging discipline which combines information science and healthcare administration. The curriculum includes courses in healthcare law, information systems, economics and finance of healthcare, ethical issues of healthcare informatics, crisis management and emergency planning, and information security.
The sports management specialization develops professionals who run the off-the-field operations behind sports teams, facilities of collegiate and professional sports. Sports management curriculum includes courses in labor management relations, sport event planning and management, fiscal management for sports and facilities managers, sport marketing research, ethics, leadership and professional development of coaches, and sport marketing and public relations.

Prospective students with bachelor’s degrees in business may complete the program in as little as one year, but non-business majors will need to take some prerequisite business courses. No previous professional experience in sports or healthcare is required to enroll in the specializations. The application requires undergraduate transcripts, resume and references, but the GMAT is not required for admission. Tuition is $625 per credit hour.
