The Best Advice I Ever Got: Sara Canaday

October 25, 2012

Sara Canaday spent 15 years working in the business world, but since 2002 she has been spending her time on a different side of the business. The author of You – According to Them: Uncovering the blind spots that impact your reputation and your career has been the one giving advice through her professional training and coaching business, Sara Canaday & Associates. But before she started speaking the wise words, she gathered a few along the way.

My Advice

Canaday: “Spend as much time, or more, working ‘on’ your business as you spend working in your business. (Classic, but good source: The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About ).

“Strike a balance between the push or rush to be first to market versus waiting until your product or service is perfect.

“Resist the idea that there is only one right business model. Take the best components that suit your product or service, stage, growth strategy, and preference.”

Canaday earned her MBA in 2002 from the University of the Incarnate Word.
