Introduction

Clarkson University was founded in 1896 in Potsdam, N.Y., as a private university. Clarkson offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in a wide variety of disciplines. Thanks to its distance learning options, students do not have to move to rural New York to enroll in Clarkson’s programs. The university now offers a state-of-the-art online opportunity for those interested in earning an MBA.

Accreditation

Since 1927, Clarkson has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. This accrediting agency was founded in 1887 as one of the original six regional accrediting organizations. It is affiliated with the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a reliable authority on distance education quality.

Academics

The online MBA program offered by Clarkson is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This program offers students the opportunity to earn their MBA through independent online work that can be completed on their own time and pace, which is great for those with other pressing responsibilities that demand attention during the day. The entire program can be completed in as little as two years. Classes that students will take during their studies include Management Accounting, Managerial Economics, Decision Analysis and Supply Chain Modeling, and Corporate Ethical Decision Making.

Student Life

With an online education from Clarkson, students can enjoy the freedom of earning their degree without the restrictions of on-campus programs. For example, rather than traveling to campus each weekday for class at a set time, students can work at any time from anywhere with a stable Internet connection. This is especially useful for those who are employed full time or in the military. Clarkson’s program is student centered, with classes that take individual learning styles and needs into consideration. Most Clarkson graduates begin their post-college careers with an annual salary of $58,955.

Admission

When applying for a spot in Clarkson’s MBA program, students will need to complete the online application as well as the GMAT. An undergraduate degree must have been earned as well, though it does not necessarily have to have been in a business field. In addition, evidence of previous work experience and two essays fulfilling provided prompts are needed. The application deadline is rolling, which means that prospective students can send in their applications at any time of the year. Of the approximately 140 full-time students who apply each term, about 120 are accepted.

Tuition and Financial Aid

A Clarkson MBA program costs approximately $53,877. Financial aid is available to all students attending Clarkson. Students can submit a FAFSA application for federal aid, and some students can look into employer assistance programs or private loans. The school also offers direct loans for which an entrance interview and paperwork are required.

Why Clarkson University?

The university has been accredited by the AACSB, a distinction that increases a Clarkson degree’s value in the eyes of employers. The program is also taught by real professors from the campus base of Clarkson, so all of your instruction in the school’s online MBA program will be high quality. Each class is relatively small as well, with about 20 to 25 students per online course. Because of this, your instructor can get to know you and your learning habits.
