Accreditation

Davenport University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HCL) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). Davenport University was awarded specialized accreditation for a number of its business degrees, including its Master of Business Administration program, by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).

Academics

Dedicated to giving students an education that prepares them for the competitive side of the business world, Davenport University has created innovative programs unique from other universities and designed to fit the adult’s working or family lifestyle. At Davenport University, students can obtain a Master of Business Administration online with a concentration of study in one of five areas:

• Accounting
• Finance
• Health Care Management
• Human Resource Management
• Strategic Management
• Executive

Each program and concentration is comprised of 39 credit hours: 18 core, 18 concentrated, and 3 elective. At two courses a semester, including the summer semester, a student can conceivable complete the entire MBA program in about two years.

Admission

Applicants to Davenport University are not required to have obtained a degree in business in order to be admitted to the institution, but it may be necessary for them to take prerequisite classes to be fully prepared for the MBA program. Students who did obtain a business undergraduate degree prior to applying must have acquired it from an accredited university in order for it to be accepted.

Applicants are required to send official transcript(s) to the office of administration for DU from their former higher education institution, including record of their completed Bachelor’s work and any Master’s level education that was taken. Unless the undergraduate final Grade Point Average (GPA) is 3.4 or better, applicants must present proof of proficiency on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). A copy of the applicant’s professional resume must be submitted in addition to the other documents. Those interested in participating in the Honors Professional Accountancy Program will be required to send in a Statement of Purpose as well. Students applying online will have access to an application guide to direct them through the application process and supply any additional information necessary.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Davenport University charges a total of $581 per credit hour for online graduate courses. This includes the cost of books and fees. The 39 credit hour MBA program will cost approximately $22,659, excluding fees, course materials, or additional credits. The one-time fee for graduate application is $25.

DU offers multiple avenues for financial aid, including institutional scholarships specifically for Master-degree seeking students. One such scholarship – the Medallion – awards a maximum annual amount of $2,000 to any new graduate-level student with a 3.8 GPA minimum during their bachelor’s degree program. The Scholars and Graduate scholarships are similar to the Medallion scholarship with lower requirements on the GPA and a lower amount awarded. If a student applies for any of these (or the other) scholarship or grant, the university will accept only the most useful scholarship. In addition to the university’s scholarships, a student may be eligible for government-awarded grants through FAFSA (which must be applied for and awarded prior to registration).

School Resources

Davenport University provides online students with three primary resources for online studying: technology, student tutorials, and netiquette. These sections give students the necessary information, tools, and resources to be able to fully utilize the online learning method.

• Technology – The University recommends each student have their own personal computer or laptop in order to access their courses and keep information handy. The website lists hardware and software requirements for computers and a recommended list of computer skills in order to be fully capable of online study.
• Student tutorials – DU uses Blackboard and Wimba as their primary online classroom utilities and tutorials for students are available for both of these programs on Davenport’s website
• Netiquette – Davenport University maintains a level of web-etiquette and professionalism and expects all students to adhere to those standards, as outlined on the site.
