Golden Gate University was founded in 1901 in San Francisco. The university is dedicated to providing an education to working adults and offers accredited undergraduate and graduate programs in business and management, information technology, taxation and law. The MBA program at Golden Gate was founded in 1953. The Professional MBA curriculum provides students with a contemporary business education and a foundation in practical techniques.


Golden Gate University has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities since 1959. The accrediting agency was reformed in 1962 to take over accreditation of Western U.S. colleges and universities that had formerly been accredited by the Association of American Universities, North Central Association. The agency is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the regional accreditation association for colleges and universities in the Western region of the U.S.


Golden Gate University offers a professional MBA program that prepares students to compete in a global and technology-based marketplace. All MBA students will also take core courses including Managerial Analysis and Team Dynamics, Managerial Finance and Contextual Environment of Business.

Student Life

Students in the professional MBA program are able to construct a schedule that best fits their lifestyle. Students have the freedom to access lectures and course materials from home at their convenience. Online students are expected to log in frequently, make quality contributions to discussions and stay current on class materials as they move through the program. Students meet in traditional classroom settings every other week.


To apply for the MBA program at Golden Gate, students must submit the admission application form online, an application fee of $70, official undergraduate transcripts and GMAT scores. Students who do not meet the minimum admission requirement are encouraged to submit a personal statement detailing their academic and career goals and showcasing their writing abilities.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for the MBA program at Golden Gate costs $921 per unit, which comes to a total of $44,200 for all 48 required units. Students can apply for federal aid in the form of grants and loans by filling out a FAFSA. Students may also take advantage of the school’s installment payment plan. According to the College Navigator, about 44 percent of all undergraduates at Golden Gate receive some form of aid.
