The MBA program through Kelley Direct focuses on general business administration, business law and ethics, economics, marketing, finance, operations, information technology and project management. There are no specific concentrations within the degree program, but all students will take required courses and nine electives of their choice to tailor the program to their interests and goals. Required courses for all students in the MBA program include Quantitative Analysis; Managing Accounting Information for Decision-Making; Information Technology; Economics for Managers; Strategic Management and Business Planning; The U.S. in a Global Economy; Developing Strategic Capabilities; and Operations Management. Some examples of electives are Cross Cultural Management and Sustainable Operations. Kelley has also partnered with companies such as General Motors and Cummins International to create customized industry programs.
Students in the Kelley MBA program are able to engage in a rigorous academic program on a flexible schedule that can be tailored to their lifestyle. All students keep up with lectures and course materials on their own timetable from any location that has Internet access. Students participate in class discussion online, and professors are available anytime to answer questions through email. Most questions and answers take place in online forums between the students or via live chat. All online MBA students will benefit from the high caliber of teaching inherent in a Kelley education. In fact, Kelley professors were given a grade of “A” in teaching quality by Bloomberg Businessweek in 2010.
All applicants for admission into the MBA program at the Kelley School of Business will be considered based on their academic record, GMAT scores, work experience, leadership abilities, two letters of recommendation, personal statement, academic and proficiency prerequisites and English proficiency. Students must have one college-level accounting and one college-level statistics course with grades of B or above. The College Navigator reports that undergraduate students at Indiana University have a 69 percent undergraduate rate.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for the Kelley Direct MBA program was $1,145 per credit hour for the 2012-13 academic year. The program consists of 51 credits, so this comes to a total of about $58,395 for the entire program. Students should also factor in about $100 per term for course materials. All Indiana University students are encouraged to apply for federal financial aid by filling out a FAFSA. Students may be eligible for federal aid such as Stafford Loans, PLUS Loans and Pell Grants. Fifty-two percent of Indiana University undergraduate students receive some form of aid.
