Advancing their degree can be a hugely advantageous move for working professionals, particularly given the current employment market and the need to move to higher positions of management. In the business world, this equates to earning an MBA to prepare the professional for those higher managerial positions. Earning an MBA through Murray State University is an excellent way for students to further both their career and their education. With a longstanding history in management education, as well as a recognized ability to meet the needs of MBA students in this day and age, Murray State University’s MBA program is among the best.

Murray State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and has received specialized accreditation for its business programs by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The MBA program at Murray State University is available completely online, giving full-time professionals the opportunity to advance their degree without the requirement of attending classes the traditional way. The faculty, students, flexible curriculum, and variety of student-centered instructional methods provide Murray State University with a competitive edge over other MBA programs. As a testament to the success of the program, three of the MBA students from Murray ranked 6th among 400 students worldwide participating in the international L’Oreal E-strat Marketing Challenge.

The program is made up of 30 credit hours of graduate-level studies. This includes 21 core semester hours and 9 hours of electives. Every student will be given personal attention from an MBA advisor and the teaching faculty at Murray State University to assist them through every step of the MBA program. Every faculty member has earned a Ph.D. Because of the class size and course rotations, students can complete the MBA program in as little as 12 months. Although Murray accepts students without business undergraduate degrees, additional courses may be required to ensure prerequisite courses are covered.

Murray State University accepts students from more than 15 different countries to the MBA program, provided they meet the necessary admissions requirements.

All applicants, regardless of Grade Point Average (GPA) must take the GMAT or GRE and pass with acceptable scores (400 for the GMAT and 286 for the GRE). If an applicant has a GPA lower than 3.0, they will need to meet a higher minimum score requirement. The formula for determining the required minimum score can be viewed by clicking here.

Conditional admission is allowed if the student has at least a 2.75 undergraduate GPA or at least a 3.0 GPA in their last 60 hours of bachelor’s study. Students admitted on this basis must take the GMAT within two months of receiving their conditional letter of acceptance or they will be dropped from the program.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Murray State University charges a maximum of $51,962 for the entire MBA program for non-residents. This breaks down to about $1,730 per credit hour. Tuition rates would be lower for residents of Kentucky.

Murray State believes no student should be denied the opportunity for a higher level of education based on financial need, and does everything possible to help students find as much financial assistance as possible to relieve the burden of tuition costs. In 2012, more than $80 million was awarded to undergraduate students at the federal, state, and local level. Graduate students can obtain aid (depending on eligibility) through aid from the U.S. Department of Education by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or at the state level. Additional information regarding graduate financial aid can be viewed here.
