Introduction

When Northwest Missouri State opened its doors in 1906; it operated mainly as a teaching school that aimed at providing an education to elementary teachers. In 1972, the school began offering masters degrees and finally changed its name to be Northwest Missouri State University. Throughout its history, the school has been awarded several awards. It is the only institute in Missouri to receive multiple Missouri Quality Awards. When the internet began to take off, the university became one of the first universities in the United States to offer students degree programs online.

Today, the online MBA program at Northwest is taught in conjunction with Missouri Southern State University. The course has been designed so that most students will finish in two years. Graduates who complete their masters with the university will receive a diploma that lists both schools.

Accreditation

Northwest Missouri State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The school is has also been recognized through the Academic Quality Improvement program (AQIP) since 2005. The business school has received its accreditation through Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

Academics

By obtaining an online MBA at Northwest Missouri, students will prepare themselves work force by earning the business skills and knowledge that will help them succeed in their career. By believing in the individual, Northwest Missouri keeps the class sizes small so that students and faculty can work together rather than competing against each other.

Upon entering the program, students will be able to choose which semester they enter. Each semester only certain classes are offered so students will need to make sure that they plan accordingly so that they can finish in two years. Upon completion of their program, students will need to take a capstone class that will combine their knowledge obtained throughout the program. Students that have not completed a business degree will be required to take some prerequisite classes prior to starting with their core classes. These classes will just help reinforce the information that they will continue to learn throughout the duration of the program.

The requirements for applying to Northwest Missouri State University’s online MBA program include:

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• Undergraduate transcripts

• GMAT Scores
Students who took the Major Field Test (MFT) and scored in the 70th percentile may have their GMAT requirement waived. Students may also be granted acceptance into the program if they do not meet the criteria above but have a minimum five years managerial work experience.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Students that have an undergraduate business degree can expect their base tuition at Northwest Missouri to cost $19,688. This is based on a 33 credit hour programs. Students that do not have an undergraduate degree in business will need to take prerequisite classes and will increase their tuition cost.
