Northwest University opened in 1934 and was founded by the Northwest Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God and was originally called the Northwest Bible Institute. Although the name of the university has changed, they still believe in keep the school dedicated to the Christian Faith. In 1948, the university became a four-year institution.
Northwest University masters of business administration program strives to become a leading innovator in the world of business education and social entrepreneurship. Their main goal is to help students develop skills and competencies to inform business decisions, both professionally and personally. The university also stresses the importance of ethical business and decision making.
Northwest University’s business programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
Northwest University classes are small so that students will be integrated in to every part of the learning process, and won’t just be a person sitting in a classroom. Students will find that in classes, they will be engaged in experimental learning with their classmates to keep them completely focused on their education.
The online MBA program has several concentrations that students can focus on. The online MBA with a concentration in social entrepreneurship will teach the student about skills that can help them solve social problems and situations. A concentration in leadership will help students develop skills in coaching others and learning about their own strength and organizational leadership. Students can also choose to concentrate in international business. This concentration deals with the past global business failures and what is important for pursuing a successful global business venture.
Students who do not have an undergraduate degree in business will need to take prerequisite classes. These classes go over the basics of economics, finance, and accounting. For those who have prior work experience, or have completed the online tutorials offered by Northwest University, these prerequisite courses may be waived. The university requires students who want to take the tutorials to have finished them prior to their second year of MBA classes.
The requirements for applying to North Western’s online MBA program include:
- A Bachelor’s degree of Arts or Science, or equivalent degree, from an accredited university
- A minimum grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on previous college work
- Completed the Application packet
- Any international students whose native language is not English must have at least a 580 score on the TOEFL Exam
- Applicant must have a qualifying score between 200 – 800 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) it costs $250 to take the exam
- The requirement for taking the GMAT can be waived if the applicant has a Master’s degree or has a 3.2 GPA for the undergraduate and has at least 2 years of full-time, professional employment.
Tuition and Financial Aid
A base level online MBA from Northwest University currently costs around $29,250 based on a 39 credit hour requirement at $750 per credit. Graduate students can apply for financial aid through the university by completing and submitting the Graduate Studies Financial Aid Application. Applicants must have also completed their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive financial aid. Northwest University also offers tuition payment options.
