In the early 1900s, Oklahoma City University was created as Epworth University. Anton Classen was the developer at the time and he was looking for a Methodist University to operate in conjunction with his other projects. After financial difficulties and changes in funding the school reopened in 1922 as Oklahoma City College by Methodist congregations.
Today, the university operates as a coeducational, private university. It is still affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The school offers students more than 60 undergraduate and 12 graduate degrees in liberal arts, fine arts, sciences, and business. The university has received the honor of being the only school in Oklahoma to be a top-tier, master’s university by U.S. News and World Report and has been listed as a best Christian college, and a best college buy.
Oklahoma City University’s business school is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the university has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges.
The Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University is committed to providing students with a quality business education by educators that hold the highest degrees and are consistently published in professional journals. Students will learn the skills needed to succeed in management. There will be special attention placed on ethics, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility. Students can choose to take the accelerated path or the traditional route. Those that choose the traditional route will follow the traditional semester structure. On the accelerated track, each class will be broken up into nine week sessions.
At Oklahoma City University, students have special degree options that they can take. There is the general MBA that will consist of 36 credit hours. If student decide to specialize in a certain area, then they can take additional hours and it will typically be 39-45 credit hours depending on the concentration.
