Plymouth State University is located in Plymouth, New Hampshire and has been educating students since 1871. Throughout its history it has operated as a teachers college, a state college, and was recognized as a university in 2003.

Plymouth State’s programs have received national recognition. Entrepreneur Magazine listed Plymouth State as a top 100 Entrepreneurial College and University. The Princeton Review named the school and one of the “Best in the Northeast”, and they have been included in the Carnegie Foundation Community Engagement Classification.


Plymouth State University’s business school is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The university is also accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and approved by the New Hampshire Department of Education and the New Hampshire Postsecondary Education Commission.

Along with their accreditations, the school was honored with being selected as being one of the 12 institutions named a “Founding Institution” for participation in phase two of the Foundations of Excellence project.


At Plymouth State University students will enter a curriculum that has been with the school for over 35 years and is home to the award winning Small Business Institute. Through the program, students can choose the type of learning environment that they want to learn in. The school offers students traditional class settings and online course work.

Students are able to start the program when they are able to and can finish as early as 12 months. The program requires that all students complete eight core classes and an additional two elective classes. Students can also choose to specialize in certain areas. Currently, students can choose from:

  • Health Care Administration
  • International Business
  • Investment and Finance
  • Organizational Communication
  • Small Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Strategic Marketing Management
  • The Human Side of Enterprise

If students are unsure if they want to specialize, they can earn a graduate certificate in each of these specializations. These certificates can be earned in conjunction to the MBA or without it. By allowing students access to these certificates, the business school also prepares students that want more expertise in multiple areas.


The requirements for applying to Plymouth State University’s online MBA program include:
• Completion of the graduate school application
• $75 application fee
• Official transcript from undergraduate university
• Statement of interest and intent
• Resume
• Three recommendation letters
• Signed and notarized New Hampshire Residency Confirmation form ( NH residents only)
• Minimum GPA of 2.5
• Successful Completion of Common Professional Component (CPC)
• Test that shows competencies in areas of accounting, business ethics, business finance, business policies, economics, global dimensions, information systems, legal environment, management, marketing, and statistics. All of these can also be satisfied by providing prior course work, work experience, non credit workshops, or CLEP, DANTES, Ivy Software, or departmental competency exam.

Tuition and Financial Aid

A base level online MBA from Plymouth State is $17,070 based on a 30 credit hour requirement. Depending on the class taken, prices can range from $569-$663 per credit hour. The costs of the program would be less for New Hampshire residents. All payments are required at the time of registration in order for a student to complete the registration process.
