Post University was founded in 1890 as a business school. In 1976, in an aim to help Vietnam veterans return to a rewarding work life, the university created a division of accelerated degree programs tailored specifically to the needs of veterans. The school took this idea a step further in 1996 when it began providing accelerated degree programs online, becoming the first college in New England to offer accredited degree programs completely on the Internet. Post University offers accredited bachelor’s and master’s programs in many areas, including Human Services, Public Administration and Education. The MBA program at Post University is the result of a long history of business education.
Post University is accredited by the The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Students in the MBA program will have the opportunity to study with experienced faculty who can provide expertise in both the theory and practice of business administration. The MBA program is designed to keep the learning process dynamic, with access to real instructors and fellow students, rather than static text on a page. The curriculum is designed to be forward thinking and places an emphasis on the application of innovation and creativity to products, services and business practices. Some of the courses students may take are basics such as Business Statistics and Business Strategy and Planning. Students will also take classes to fuel their own inspiration, such as Organizational Creativity, Discovery and Innovation. At Post University, 75 percent of the full-time MBA faculty members have terminal degrees in their field and 100 percent have at least 20 years of corporate leadership or consulting experience.
Students at Post University have access to an MBA program that is delivered completely online. This means that students who have full- or part-time jobs, or other time consuming obligations, do not have to go through the hassle of driving to and from campus every day. Post students are free to access their course work from anyplace with Internet access. This gives those students who may not otherwise have the freedom and flexibility to attend traditional college courses an opportunity to earn a valuable degree. Students can network in real time with their professors and classmates, and they have access to technical help by phone, chat and email 24/7, every day of the year. All online MBA students are assigned academic advisers to serve as support and guidance throughout the program.
To apply for a Post University MBA program, students are required to provide the following items:
- The online application form
- Official undergraduate transcript from a regionally accredited university
- Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional contacts
- Documentation of prior work experience
Along with these materials, applicants must also complete a telephone interview with an admissions counselor. Students are not required to provide GMAT test scores to be accepted into the MBA program. The university admissions board looks for students with work experience, good standing in their undergraduate academic work, and a desire to learn and develop knowledge and skills that will lead them to fruitful careers in business. There is no cutoff as far as GPA requirements, as significant work experience may help support a lower GPA, but the university typically seeks students with an undergraduate GPA above 3.0.
According to College Navigator, 56 percent of undergraduate students applying to Post University are admitted. Acceptance decisions will be provided within 10 days of the receipt of a student’s application. Because admissions are conducted on a rolling basis, and MBA courses begin every eight weeks, students are able to start immediately after they have been accepted.
