Saint Joseph’s University (SJU), founded in 1851, is a private Philadelphia institution offering associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in a wide variety of fields. SJU’s online MBA degree program, offered through its Erivan K. Haub School of Business, is a good choice for those looking to move up in their business careers. The school and program focus on skill development and functional training.
Since 1922, SJU has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. This accrediting agency, founded in 1887 and affiliated with the respected Council for Higher Education Accreditation, was founded as one of the six original accreditors in the U.S. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a reliable authority on college education quality.
The online MBA program offered by SJU is focused on teaching students real skills that will be useful in the business world. The school offers the following online MBA degrees:
- Professional Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Pharmaceutical and Health Care Marketing Master of Business Administration (MBA) for Executives
These programs help students create a foundation of general business knowledge through courses such as Math for Graduate Business Studies, Shareholder Value Management, Contemporary Information Technology and Empowering Human Potential at Work. Those in the health care management program will take more health-centered business classes such as Business Ethics (in relation to health care), Drug/Device Regulations and Sales Forecasting.
At SJU, students have the freedom to earn an online MBA degree on their own schedule. They have the opportunity to take all of their classes from home, and at whatever time is the most convenient for them, rather than adhering to a preset schedule. Students will also have access to career counseling and online technical support.
Students will need to complete the online application before the program deadline. An undergraduate business degree is required, as well as GMAT or GRE scores and two letters of recommendation. For U.S. students, the application deadline is typically Aug. 1; for international students, it’s typically July 15. This program is selective. About 460 part-time students apply each year, and approximately 270 are accepted.
Tuition and Financial Aid
An MBA program from SJU costs approximately $43,784 for the entire program, working out to 52 total credits at $842 per credit hour, according to the school’s website. Financial aid is available to all students attending SJU. Students can submit a FAFSA application for federal aid, and some students can look into employer paid or military programs.
Why Saint Joseph’s University?
Saint Joseph’s University’s rigorous course load adequately prepares students for a career in the business field. SJU’s business school is dual AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited in business and accounting. This distinction applies to less than 5 percent of all business schools in the world. Students also can enjoy prompt response to technical issues so that they are never slowed down by minor computer or online platform glitches.
