Southeast Missouri State University is a public institution near the banks of the Mississippi River in¬†Cape Girardeau, Mo.¬†Established in 1873, the school offers associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in more than 200 areas of study. The university is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the “Top 25 Public Schools in the U.S. (Midwest).” With Southeast Missouri’s innovative distance education package and national accreditation, the school is a sound choice for students who want to gain real-world knowledge while maintaining their other responsibilities.


Since 1915, Southeast Missouri State University has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Higher Learning Commission. The Donald L. Harrison College of Business at Southeast Missouri State University is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), an honor shared by only 20 percent of business programs. While the on-campus business school offers a wide array of concentrations, the online MBA has only a General Management option.

Student Life

Southeast Missouri State University boasts a comprehensive online support network for its MBA students. Faculty will be available through emails, chat, message boards and drop boxes. Students have access to the same curriculum taught by the traditional class instructors. All course materials can be accessed online. In addition, a technical support team is available via phone and email during weekdays to answer all of your questions. Emails received during regular hours are answered within 30 minutes. Students applying to Southeast Missouri State University’s MBA are required to have earned a bachelor’s degree from an AACSB-accredited program. Students who fail to meet this requirement can complete necessary background course work. The application deadline for U.S. students is Jan. 8. International students must apply by Jan. 7.

Tuition and Financial Aid

The cost of Southeast Missouri State University’s MBA program is approximately $480.50 per credit hour. The program requires a minimum of 33 credit hours. The base program cost–excluding mandatory fees, textbooks, or other costs–is $15,857. Costs are determined on non-resident charges, so Missouri residents will pay less. Financial aid is available to all students attending the university. Students can submit a FAFSA application for federal aid. Southeast accepts employer tuition reimbursement.
