Founded in 1966 by the SUNY Board of Trustees, the State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome is New York’s public institute of technology. The university has seven separate departments that offer both undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of professional fields. The online MBA program at SUNYIT is a two-year program that focuses on management and the use of technology in business. Students in the program have the choice to take courses which concentrate on particular business-related topics or to take general management courses.
The State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, an organization that has been accrediting education institutions nationally and internationally since 1887. SUNYIT’s School of Business and its online MBA program in Technology Management is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The AACSB is an international accreditor of business schools and has been advancing business education around the world since 1916.
The SUNYIT online MBA program consists of a curriculum that is designed to prepare students for a successful career in upper business management. What makes the program different from other MBA programs, though, is its unique focus on technology use in business. All students are required to complete 48 credit hours: 18 technology management credit hours, 21 business management credit hours, and nine specialized concentration credit hours. All courses can be completed entirely online, but before graduation, students must spend one weekend on campus to satisfy the university’s resident requirement.
Applicants to the SUNYIT online MBA program must submit their GMAT score, along with the following other items:
- Application for graduate school
- Transcripts from all attended educational institutions, showing proof of earned bachelor’s degree
- One letter of reference
- Resume showing work experience
- Application for graduate assistantship (optional)
- $60 application fee
In lieu of the GMAT, the university will accept other standardized graduate test scores (GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc). For more information about admittance to this program, please visit the State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome’s official website.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Applicants to the online MBA program should fill out and submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at the beginning of the year. Because graduate students are only eligible for unsubsidized federal student loans, students may need to use other resources for financial aid, including private student loans, scholarships or employee sponsorship. To find out what types of financial aid you qualify for, contact the SUNYIT financial aid department at the same time you apply for admittance.
