Originally founded in 1906 as a law school, Suffolk University has grown quite a bit over the years and now includes a rich variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. Suffolk University’s graduate programs are ranked among the top master’s programs in the north by U.S. News and World Report. Suffolk’s Sawyer Business School is well-known for its global focus, and the Suffolk University online MBA degree program is rapidly establishing a name for itself in the world of online business education.


Suffolk University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Suffolk’s Sawyer Business School and its online MBA program are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB is considered one of the most prestigious accrediting organizations for business schools, and it selectively accredits just 5% of all business schools internationally.


Suffolk University offers a traditional MBA program as well as accelerated options for those with relevant academic and professional experience in the fields of business, law, and accounting. Accelerated MBA students are able to use their previous college credit and take placement exams to waive certain core classes. All Suffolk online MBA students are required to take career planning, management, and global business courses to prepare them for their future careers as executives.


Suffolk University has high expectations for its online MBA students, and its program is one of the most esteemed online MBA programs in Massachusetts. Getting into Suffolk’s graduate business school isn’t necessarily easy. Before applicants are considered by the Sawyer Business School admissions committee, they have to do the following:

  • Submit relevant undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  • Send a copy of a current resume
  • Provide an official record of their most recent GMAT score
  • Complete an online application

Suffolk University requires that each of its first-year online MBA students has a minimum of one year of full-time work experience. Applicants with a composite undergraduate GPA that is higher than 3.4 and at least four years of professional work experience are not required to submit their GMAT scores to the graduate admissions committee.
