Introduction

Tarleton State University, located in Stephenville, Texas, was founded in 1899 as the largest non-land-grant university primarily devoted to agriculture in the United States. In 1917, the university joined the Texas A&M University system and now offers classes to students in the Dallas/Fort Worth area along with its online degree programs. Tarleton is currently the fastest growing university in the state of Texas, and has the second highest enrollment rate in the A&M school system.

Starting in 2003, the school began to offer students the option to earn degrees online. The first degree that was offered online was a master’s degree in agriculture. Soon after, the College of Business followed by offering four online master’s degree programs.

Tarleton’s online program is designed for students that have the desire, organizational skills, self discipline, time management skills, and talent for individual study.

The online MBA program at Tarleton requires student complete 36 credit hours. There are seven core classes that all students are required to take. The areas of study focus on accounting, finance, managing, business strategy and methods, and marketing. Once students complete the core classes they are then offered elective classes. There is the option of turning your electives into a specific concentration. The university offers four concentrations including management, human resource management, computer information systems, and health care administration.
