Texas A&M University-Commerce was founded in 1889 and has been a member of the Texas A&M University system since 1996. Placing an emphasis on economic, ethical and environmental values, Texas A&M’s MBA program prepares its students for managerial and analytical excellence in the business world. Offered through the College of Business and Technology, Texas A&M University-Commerce has offered its full-time MBA program since 1951 and its online MBA program since 2004. Concentrations are available in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems/Information Technology, Marketing and a dual MS/MBA degree.
Texas A&M University-Commerce is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International), which has been the foremost accrediting association for business institutions since 1916. Texas A&M has also been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges since 1925.
MBA students are required to take eight core courses and two electives. Students coming from a background other than business will be required to take prerequisite courses in management, accounting, marketing, economics, financing and business administration. Program length is 30 to 48 hours. Core courses include Advanced Managerial Accounting, Managerial Economics, Advanced Macroeconomic Theory and Policy, Financial Management, Marketing Management, Strategic Management and Management Skills Development. Two information analysis classes (Statistical Methods and Applied Business Research) are also required. Electives can be chosen from courses in accounting, financing, economics, information technology, management, marketing or independent study.
Students have the option to study abroad in Britain or China. They also have access to 14 databases, 1,700 electronic and print journals and 6,200 electronic books. Experienced faculty members teach classes on-campus as well as online. Many of them conduct research in the disciplines they teach. Students may also elect to do an internship or independent study.
There are three levels of acceptance status: full, conditional and provisional. For admission, students are required to submit a completed application, official postsecondary transcripts, three recommendation letters, a resume and official GMAT or GRE scores. Test scores are waived if the applicant has an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above.
Tuition and Financial Aid
MBA students must be enrolled in at least six credit hours a semester to be eligible for aid. To be considered for financial aid, students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and for in-state students a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TAFSA). Tuition costs differ for in-state Texas residents and nonresidents, and an additional distance-learning fee of $40 per credit is required for online students.
