The University of North Dakota (UND) has been offering a quality education to its student community since 1883. This private institution offers associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in a wide variety of fields. Its online MBA is offered through its College of Business and Public Administration, which was North Dakota’s first accredited business college.

Since 1913, UND has been accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Higher Learning Commission. This accrediting agency was founded in 1895 and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a reliable authority on distance education quality.

The online MBA program offered by UND is focused on teaching students real skills that will be useful in the business world on an executive level. Students will learn how to plan, organize, operate and control a business, as well as isolate and solve problems and make effective changes to prevent future ones. Courses include Accounting Information for Decision and Control, Managerial Finance, Quantitative Analysis for Management Decisions, and Strategic Market Planning.

Student Life

With an online education from UND, students have the freedom to study on their own terms. Although they will still have to meet deadlines for assignments, they no longer have to worry about being late for class or missing a lecture because they can take their classes from home at whatever time is the most convenient for them. All of the students enrolled in UND’s online program will complete the same courses as those who come to campus, ensuring that they will receive the same quality education as traditional learners.

There are 12 MBA prerequisite courses that applicants need to meet, either through taking the required classes or scoring at least a 70 percent on┬áchallenge examinations. Students will also need to complete the school’s online application form and send in undergraduate transcripts, an application fee and letters of recommendation. The priority deadlines are Aug. 1 for the fall, Dec. 1 for spring and May 1 for summer.

Tuition and Financial Aid

An MBA program from UND costs approximately $12,614, working out to 34 total credits at about $371 each, according to the school’s website. At UND, there is not a price difference for in-state students versus nonresidents. Students can submit a FAFSA to determine eligibility for federal financial aid, and some students can look into employer or military reimbursement programs.

Why the University of North Dakota?

The rigorous online course load adequately prepares students for a career in the business field and UND’s business school is AACSB accredited. Some “live” classes are held each week, during which students can sign in to chat with their instructors in real time, making the online learning experience more closely resemble face-to-face instruction.
