The university offers associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in a variety of fields, including the fine arts, nursing and business administration. Among its many master’s programs is a WebMBA program offered online. The university is committed to a technologically enhanced learning community, which is reflected both on campus and through its distance education program.

Since 1929, Valdosta has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a reliable authority on higher education quality.

Valdosta State University is a member institution of the Georgia WebMBA, a program in which five Georgia institutions come together to offer students the chance to earn an MBA online. The business schools at all five member institutions are AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited. The WebMBA program consists of a required two-day orientation, 10 core courses and no electives. Students will take challenging courses including: Managerial Accounting, Global and International Business, Strategic Marketing, Productions and Operations Management and Managerial Finance. The WebMBA program concludes with a capstone project in business strategy. Students whose undergraduate degree was not in business may have to take additional prerequisite courses.

Student Life

With an online education from Valdosta State University, students have the freedom to earn their degree on a flexible schedule. The program is beneficial to working professionals who need to balance school, their career and other responsibilities. With the exception of the program orientation, students complete all course work online.

Students who want to participate in Georgia’s WebMBA program through Valdosta must first be admitted to VSU’s graduate school. Students must submit an application packet that includes their GMAT scores, undergraduate GPA as shown on sealed transcripts, a professional resume and an essay questionnaire. Two years of professional business experience is preferred.

Tuition and Financial Aid

The total tuition cost for the WebMBA offered through Valdosta is currently $19,350 ($645 per credit hour) according to the school’s website. The cost is split over five consecutive semesters, which last a total of 18 to 20 months. An orientation fee of $645 as of spring 2011 is also required at time of acceptance. Financial aid is available to students who qualify after filling out a FAFSA.

Why Valdosta State University?

Compared with other AACSB-accredited programs offered by private and for-profit institutions, VSU’s WebMBA is much more affordable. Publications such as Businessweek and U.S. News & World Report have noted the Georgia WebMBA’s competitive tuition cost. The program allows students to complete it in five semesters, with two courses per semester, so students don’t get overwhelmed.
