West Virginia University is located in Morgantown and is home to the Mountaineers. The school is located approximately 200 miles west of the nation’s capital and houses about 27,500 students. Of the student population, there are nearly 6,500 graduate and professional students.

Accreditation

West Virginia University’s College of Business and Economics is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and only offers the Executive MBA online.

Academics

Students taking the Executive MBA online can complete the 48 credit hours in as little as two years. The program is broken up into four semesters – two in the spring and two in the fall. Students are pre-scheduled to complete 10-13 credit hours per semester, but the program can extend from the normal WVU semester scheduling.

The student must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the program. If the GPA falls below a 2.75 the student will be placed on academic probation. If the GPA is not brought back to at least a 2.75, the student will be suspended from the program. Suspension will also occur if the student makes more than one C in the program.

Currently, there are no concentrations with the EMBA other than general management. There is a four day residency requirement for the program.

Admission

The following are the requirements for applying to the graduate business program:

  • At least two years of post-undergraduate work experience is preferred
  • Submit graduate school application
  • Personal statement (optional)
  • GMAT – no minimum score required
  • Two letters of recommendation (optional)
  • Transcripts from previous colleges or universities attended
  • Résumé
  • $60 application fee

There is no minimum GMAT score requirement, however, the business school prefers students who finished in the top 50 percentile. Students can request to have the GMAT waived if they have five years or more experience in the business field.

Tuition and Financial Aid

The online Executive MBA program costs $663 per credit hour for state residents. The program is 48 credit hours, costing approximately $31,824 for residents of West Virginia. Due to varying costs, out-of-state students are encouraged to contact the university in regards to program costs.

The school has several tuition reduction programs available to certain students.

West Virginia University participates in a variety of student loan programs from federal and private sources that must be repaid. Federal loan programs are options for U.S. citizens and legal residents. Private education loan programs are options for all applicants, including international students.
