Kansas’s higher education system is a key force in the state’s economy and educational infrastructure. Kansas’s state schools like the University of Kansas and Kansas State University are members of the Kansas Board of Regents along with 32 other colleges and universities. Even in this sparsely-populated state, the higher education system facilitates jobs creation and state and local tax collections, according to the Statewide Economic Impact Study conducted by the Board in 2011. The study also reflected the higher education system created $3.4 billion in wages and salary impacts, which is important to Kansas’s economic health.

Kansas-based universities also promote programs that make advanced degrees available working professionals, including several in-state options for an online MBA. Programs in Kansas include one public university program at Fort Hayes State University. This program is accredited by the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Other accredited programs include those at private institutions like Southwestern College Professional Studies, Ottawa University, and Friends University. These programs are ideal for students hoping to advance to management in their current industry or grow into a new management promotion by enhancing their skill and knowledge base.

Kansas’s high education system is also concerned with making the public aware of the on-campus and online degree programs available in the state. The Kansas Board of Regents recently launched a new online tool designed to make it easier for Kansas students to learn about available education programs. The online search tool is available on the Regents website and provides access to information about the thousands of programs offered through 32 higher education institutions in the Board.
