In this state of more than 150 colleges and universities, a diverse selection of hybrid and online graduate programs and online MBAs in Oklahoma are available. While the state’s economy reflects a large sector of occupations in the trade and manufacturing industries, Oklahoma is also heavily reliant on qualified health care professionals, which comprise one of the largest groups of professionals in the state, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). To fill the state’s increasing job growth in local industry, Oklahoma State University, for example, offers entirely online MBAs in a variety of concentrations, including dental care and a combined MBA/MSTM degree.

Similarly, Oklahoma’s Southern Nazarene University also offers a health care option in addition to its traditional MBA degree online. As overseen by the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), the state of Oklahoma participates in the Board’s Academic Common Market/Electronic Campus program. Just one of many innovative education outreach projects in the state, through this combined initiative the Board in Oklahoma is able to offer distance learning programs to a broad student population, providing in-state college expenses to students who are actually pursuing e-learning from out-of-state. Ironically, prospective graduate students who elect to take advantage of this savings may end up using their financial savvy in the workforce in Oklahoma someday: the BLS reports that the ‘financial activities’ sector accounts for over 82,000 jobs in the state. Overall, among various efforts to increase awareness of online education opportunities, the state of Oklahoma pursued additional funding for education, as of 2010, with a 13.1% increase in academic research spending that year, according to the Chronicle of Higher Learning.
