As one of the nation’s most sustainable cities, it is fitting that the state of Oregon is home to several colleges and universities with comprehensive online MBA programs in sustainability. Many entrepreneurs graduating from Portland State University‘s online sustainability MBA, for example, have gone on to pursue careers among the state’s leading industries, often involving agriculture and/or environmental concerns. It is the same forward-thinking and innovation that makes Oregon a leader of the Pacific Northwestern states in online and distance learning awareness initiatives.

The Oregon State Board of Higher Education (OSBHE), which serves as the state’s governing authority in higher education, offers a variety of resources to encourage e-learning opportunities. Through the OSBHE website, students have easy access to online course listings and are able to find information from various state schools offering online MBAs in Oregon and other state-based distance learning degrees in one place. Although online MBA programs in Oregon are currently few in number, the state may continue to offer increased online education opportunities through its more high-profile public and private colleges and universities.

These universities count among their institution-wide efforts a push to integrate environmentally sound school operations, like reducing paper waste by offering fully online courses and programs. Such efforts seem to have an impact on local awareness, as well. Among the notable achievements in overall education improvement in the state are a 54.2% 6-year graduation rate as of 2010, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
