This MBA program enables students to become experts in the organization and execution of a project. Students in an online Project Management MBA program will focus on defining, managing and seeing projects to fruition. This degree is not focused on management of the overall functions of a business, but rather on management of the individual projects that may take place within it. To make products or deliver services, employees must work together on specific projects that have deliberate goals and must be completed to keep the business running. Students will learn how to break a project down into parts, focusing on the definition of the project and its execution.  Students will define the goals of projects, lead groups of people and allocate appropriate resources to see the project through to completion. 

Getting Into a Project Management MBA Program

Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, typically with an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher, though some schools may allow lower ones. In most cases, applicants are expected to possess at least basic foundation knowledge of business. Those who did not receive their bachelor’s degree in business or another related field are often required to complete courses such as the following before beginning their MBA studies:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Foundations of Business
  • Business Law and Ethics

In addition, some schools require that applicants submit their GMAT scores even if there is no minimum for admission. Most schools will also require letters of recommendation and essays.
